The Restroom Code – The restroom code will remain 541 for the month of May please take note.
Gas Dock Prices – WeÕre at a loss to say anything about gas
prices other than we are still buying gas to sell and people are still buying
it. I guess that is all anyone can
ask for. Currently unleaded is $3.98 and premium is $ 4.15. I
expect prices to really climb during the month of May in preparation for the Memorial Day Weekend.
Remember it is against the Fire Code to refuel your boat with a
plastic or metal jerry can type fuel system. If you own a boat that is an outboard power system and
uses a six gallon gas can for its fuel system you can change out one tank for
the other in dry storage or wet storage.
If you own a boat in wet
storage or dry storage and the boat has an internal fuel can you must fuel the
boat in an approved manner (either at a
gas dock or gas station but not in our berths or our dry storage area). If you are caught putting fuel in your
boat in an illegal fashion we will simply ask you to leave the harbor and not
come back---itÕs a safety issue.
Memorial Day Weekend – Memorial Day weekend starts Friday May 23rd with Monday May 26th being the actual holiday. For some of you it will be the first time you use your boat for the season. Make sure you call Bart Fisher at 925-778-8346 for a boat wash and detail before that weekend.
We have a full weekend crew to take care of your needs on weekends---Margaret or Chris in the office, Alex, John and Dan on tractor detail, and Katie and Zach taking care of clean restrooms, pumping gas, or helping out at the pumpout station. Our long weekend schedule is always 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Those are the hours of the office, tractor launch service, and gas sales. You can receive gas at our gas dock after 9:00 p.m. if you call ahead and speak with night person, Bob.
The Fishing Report and General information - Currently water temperatures at the Antioch Boat Ramp are in the 60.2 to 62.2 degree range. In the harbor the water temperatures are a little warmer. Expect 65 degree water out in front of the harbor by Memorial Day Weekend. (You may need a skin if you are going to be jet skiing over the weekend).
We are starting to see the black bass nesting in the harbor getting ready to spawn over the next two full moon cycles during April and May. The stripers that have been caught during the past two weeks have been mostly males; as soon as they are landed at the boat they are milking indicating that the heavy females are not far behind. Out in front of our harbor at the sand bar, near the barges at False River on the San Joaquin River, False River and Franks Tract are all producing stripers up to 15 lbs. One boat recently brought in three sturgeon totaling 168 lbs. They were fishing near the Big Cut in Suisun Bay.
Berths for Rent – We have two 20-foot covered berths currently for rent and many 20-foot open berths for rent. Give Chris, Margaret or Paula a call for rates. Summer 20 Foot Open Berth Promotion Special – If you think that you would like to leave your boat in the water for the summer and arenÕt sure you can afford the cost give us a call and speak with Chris, Margaret or Paula for details. This promotional offer is only available to current dry storage customers.
We Sell Hydro Hoists Fat Cat Sales – We currently have a 6,600 lb. hydrohoist for sale that has been out in our field for several years. Give us a call at the harbor about pricing and installation costs. We would be happy to give you a quote on a new install at your berth as well.
Used Boat Sales at Lauritzen Yacht Harbor – The Olympic Boats Centers Sales Office has announced the employment of Rob Harris as their Used/New boat salesman. Rob has been in the boat sales business for six years. Rob has his California Sales Persons License which means he is licensed to show and sell used boats.
The plan as I understand is to fill the Olympic Dock area up with all brands of used boats for sale. They will be brokering used trailerable boats on their trailers as well. Olympic Boat Center will continue to sell new boats for those folks looking to boat up. The phone number for the Olympic Boat Centers Sales Office is 925-777-9450 give Rob a call.
Jet Ski Races at Lauritzens Saturday April 26th – Diablo Jet Ski Action is starting their fifteen venue race season with their first race being held here at the harbor on April 26th. Long-time Delta Do-Gooder, Jim Lambert, is the promoter/organizer of this circuit. The race course will be far enough away from our harbor entrance that no one should be impacted getting in or out of the harbor entrance. There will be committee boats with oranges flags that will help direct you around the race course area.
